Oscar combines operational with technical knowledge in the military air domain. After his study electrical engineering he joined the Royal Navy. Here he worked for 38 years in various operational functions and sailed on frigates during various international operations. First in the command central of frigates and later as helicopter senior operator, after that several functions within the Naval Air Service.
He was fully involved in the design & development of the NH90 (NFH), later on he performed testflights on prototypes. Acceptance of the first RNLN NH90 helicopters was also part of his job.
When the first NH90 helicopters arrived in the Netherlands, he worked at De Kooy Naval Air Station with Squadron 7. Here he helped to set up the expertise bureau after which various operational Test and Evaluation programs were conducted and he was deployed as Type Rating Instructor and Type Rating Examiner on the NH90.
